AS Intelligent speed bumps that only activate if you don’t respect the speed limit

There is a new kind of speed bump that barely exists if your vehicle respects the speed limit, but hardens if you don’t. An entrepreneur from Málaga has developed this bump alongside the Badennova company. Inside there is a non-Newtonian liquid that, at slow speeds behaves like a liquid, but at high speeds hardens on impact to create a bump. It is being implemented in Spanish territory and every day there are more requests for it from countries such as the United States or Argentina.

Rebekah was born with an upper limb difference and her early experiences with a prosthesis were disappointing. After many years of successfully navigating life with one hand, something exciting happened: She decided to try an advanced multiarticulating hand. Rebekah consulted with Arm Dynamics' Northeast Center of Excellence in Philadelphia and was fitted with an i-limb quantum hand. She worked with Chris Bollinger, upper limb prosthetic therapy specialist, on integrating the prosthesis into her daily life at home and on the job. Prosthetist Brian Waryck, CP, Clinical Manager, guided her clinical care and is featured in this video. Rebekah was thrilled to be one of the first to wear the small i-limb quantum, sized specifically for people of petite stature. Her prosthesis has been an integral part of an exciting new chapter in her life as a “ Bionic Model”. Rebekah has modeled in New York Fashion Week in 2015 and 2016, appeared in the 2015 Nordstrom catalog, and been featured in an ad campaign for Frameri eyewear. She is also an inspirational speaker and an ambassador for the Lucky Fins Project, a nonprofit organization that supports those with upper limb differences. Elon Musk on Cameras vs LiDAR for Self Driving and Autonomous Cars

Elon Musk says lidar «is a fool’s errand» and that anyone using lidar is «doomed.» He goes on to say that they are «expensive sensors that are unnecessary. It’s like having a whole bunch of expensive appendices. Like, one appendix is bad, well now you have a whole bunch of them, it’s ridiculous, you’ll see.»

There quite a bit of debate in the self-driving world whether lidar is truly required for Full Self-Driving capabilities on autonomous vehicles. Lidar provides very a very accurate, high precision depth map of the world around the car, but is currently still fairly expensive and also has challenges seeing through occlusions, like rain, snow and fog. Tesla's argument is that roads were built for human drivers with vision and that vision systems, such as cameras will do a better job traversing that environment than other sensors, reading all the vision queues meant for drivers, like road signs, etc. In addition, Tesla believes their vision system (plus radar) accurately handles depth sensing problems and that lidar is not needed for that function.
