Playing piano with a mind-controlled robotic arm

Опубликовано: 1 июн. 2018 г.The first person to live with a mind-controlled robotic arm is teaching himself piano. Johnny Matheny has spent the last five months with an advanced prosthetic, designed to replace the human hand and arm.

The robot arm is part of a research project run through the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab, and funded, in part, by the US Department of Defense. Data that researchers collect could revolutionize future mind-controlled robotics.

This is the second video in a series following Johnny has he spends the year with the arm.

Recently, the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) gave people around the world something to cheer for by becoming one of the first sports leagues to get back to playing ball. With thorough cleaning protocols in place to protect the health and safety of players and staff, the KBO has been back in action for more than a month now. Unfortunately, however, teams have been forced to press on without the most important element of all: the millions of die-hard fans that make this league so special.

Captured using the Galaxy S20 Ultra and narrated by MLB star and former NC Dinos first baseman Eric Thames, the video below spotlights how KBO teams are adjusting to this era of crowdless games, and giving people hope for an eventual return to normal life.

In 2017, Direct Line partnered with technology companies, transport experts, phycologists and city councils to pioneer a new, dynamic pedestrian crossing that responds to potential danger and hazards in real-time, to help prevent more accidents from happening, rather than just cover them when they do.
 
On the 5th October installed the world's first responsive road in a controlled studio environment in London, to put our prototype to the test. A series of real-life scenarios were acted out on the road, using real people and vehicles.
 
Following the launch, Direct Line will continue to work with local authorities and transport agencies across the UK to find more ways The Smart Crossing could help make our urban environments safer in the real world.
